A MASTER plan to transform the Brookdale area over the next 15 years with sustainable urban development has won two prestigious awards from the Planning Institute of Australia (WA). The Wungong Urban Water plan being developed by the Armadale Redevelopment Authority, TPG Town Planning & Urban Design, the University of Western Australia, and Roberts Day won the environmental planning/conservation award for excellence, as well as the PIA president’s award. The master plan envisages a diverse residential area that showcases best practice in sustainable urban development – incorporating natural resource management, water sensitive urban design and energy efficient housing. In other categories, the planning minister’s award was presented to LandCorp and Cardno BSD for Cockburn Central, while HASSELL’s Lawrence Man was named WA young planner of the year. Certificate of commendation recipients included: the WA Planning Commission; the Shire of Broome and the Rubibi community; Chappell Lambert Everett; Hames Sharley; National Lifestyle Villages; and the City of Stirling.
