Woodside Petroleum has awarded the engineering contract for its Pluto gas plant to a FosterWheeler WorleyParsons joint venture, continuing the run of success Sydney-based WorleyParsons has had in Western Australia.

Worley announced today that it expected to earn about $320 million from its work on three big Woodside projects.

This follows its close involvement in the North West Shelf venture's Train 5 expansion project, which was also managed by a FosterWheeler WorleyParsons (FVW) joint venture.

The FVW joint venture will manage the engineering, procurement and construction management of the Pluto gas plant. Based on past experience, a large portion of the work will be done at FosterWheeler's UK offices.

A second joint venture between Worley and US engineering firm Kellogg Brown & Root (the Eos joint venture) was awarded the engineering contract for the Pluto offshore platform in August.

Worley was also recently awarded the detailed design for the stage 1 of the Pluto marine supply base.
