WA MAY be two years away from having its dedicated exhibition and convention centre but a Perth company has helped stage one of the world’s most important gatherings of business and political leaders.
Belmont-based Corporate Theatre’s expertise was used to help Brunei host the 2000 Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation CEO summit last month.
The company took two tonnes of equipment to the independent Sultanate on the island of Borneo to create staging and presentation services used by world leaders, including the presidents of the US, Russia and China.
Corporate Theatre managing director Vaughan Emery said he had won the job through a contact he had made when staging a major exhibition in Shanghai in 1998.
The Brunei job has included several trips by Mr Emery to the country, culminating in a team of six Corporate Theatre staff being dispatched to Brunei for eight days to stage last month’s APEC summit.
The contract was worth about $120,000 to the company.
“In saying that it was a year’s work,” Mr Emery said.
