Winning words

A TALENT for taking the dry elements of business stories and enlivening them with interesting headlines has won Business News sub-editor David Turnock an important award in WA’s media industry. Mr Turnock won the AJA sub-editing prize for a series of three headlines in the newspaper.

Announced at last week’s WA media awards, it was reported that the judges said Mr Turnock used bright, meaningful headings to attract readers to finance stories that do not lend themselves easily to word play.

The judges were Murdoch University senior lecturer in jornalism Chris Smyth, Channel 10 news director Chris Hunt and Dean of Perth, the very reverend Dr John Shepherd.
