Wine winners

SANDALFORD won the best riesling at the Sheraton Wine Awards on Tuesday night.

Woody Nook picked up a gold for its sauvignon blanc and a silver for its dry white. In a surprise in the chardonnay class, Harvey River Bridge Estate won gold. Vasse Felix continued their domination of the semillon class.

In the reds, gold was won by Houghton’s 1999 Frankland River Shiraz and newcommer Cape Grace Wines’ 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon.

The Wine Press Club award was won by Wanneroo winemaker Paul Conti.
