Those who like to enjoy a country drive followed by some of the Great Southern’s best wines and gourmet food are in luck.
It’s the Porongorup Wine Festival, to be held this year on the grounds of Angelo and Wendy Diletti’s Castle Rock Estate Wines on Sunday March 6 (right in the middle of the long weekend).
There will be 10 local wine producers providing tastings of their wines as well as gourmet food and the Celtic blues sound of Magnetic South. There’s also the legendary grape stomp.
The Porongorup Wine Festival will also have helicopter rides and plenty of activities to keep the kids amused while mum and dad partake in the tastings. The local wine producers at this year’s festival are: Castle Rock Estate; Abbey Creek Vineyard; Zaraphath Wines; Mount Trio Vineyard; Millinup Estate; Jingalla Wines; Duke’s Vineyard; Springview Wines; Gibraltar Rock Wines; and Ironwood Estate.
There is also a range of other food and wine events taking place in the Great Southern region over the Labour Day long weekend, so keep an eye out.
