Wilson buys Shelf

Parking and security player, Wilson Parking, has bought its fourth Western Australian security agency in two years with the purchase of Shelf Security in Dampier, one of the north-west’s largest security agencies.

The deal, which settled this week, enables Wilson to establish a presence in the region through existing Shelf Security contracts, with resource and infrastructure clients including Burrup Fertilisers, Dampier Port and Pilbara Iron.

Wilson Group chief financial officer Michael Quinlivan said the purchase was a bolt-on acquisition as part of its planned security expansion, which currently numbers 50 vehicles in Perth.

The deal also includes Shelf’s logistics arm and Secretarial and Administrative Support Services based in the Dampier Arcade, which service Exmouth, Broome, Dampier and Karratha, and more recently Darwin.

Shelf Security managing director Janine Park said that, after 35 years in the north-west, she and her husband were ready to retire and explore beyond its borders.

“We were approached by Wilson and knew it was the right time. The name Shelf Security will remain Shelf Security, which is a credit to our brand and business,” she said.

Shelf Security has been operating on the Burrup Peninsula since 1995, and has built up a team of 55 staff and a substantial static guard services division.

SASS Logistics is the approved contractor for Woodside Energy Ltd in the provision of logistical assistance to associated offshore rigs and vessels.

Wilson’s move follows purchases of Westsure Security, Deltaline Security, NGS Security and MSA Security, which was WA’s largest independently owned provider of alarm response, mobile patrol and static guard services.

Wilson Parking has interests throughout Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Korea and is privately owned by the Hong Kong-based Kwok family, a major shareholder in Hong Kong listed property group, Sun Hung Kai Properties Ltd.
