ESPERANCE was in clean-up mode this week following a freak storm created by ex-cyclone Isobel combining with a surface trough. The storm dumped 155mm of rain overnight and downed trees with gale force winds. BHP Billiton said rainfall from the storm had disrupted production at its Kalgoorlie smelter, resulting in a loss of two half days of production, but stressed there would be no impact on customers.
