A $107,000 Lotterywest cheque has been presented to research the motivations of Western Australia’s 428,600 volunteers.
Volunteering Minister, Sheila McHale said the research would ultimately help volunteer groups better recruit and retain volunteers and lift participation rates.
Research on volunteering has already taken place during 2001, when a questionnaire was developed and tested with a small group.
This new research will use the questionnaire to discover the motivation of 300 community service volunteers and find out why some people choose not to volunteer.
