Local construction company Whittens has won a $10 million contract for work on Pilbara Minerals’ Pilgangoora lithium project.
Whittens will provide concrete construction of crushing, wet processing, and spodumene concentration dressing infrastructure, as well as processing plant services, as a sub-contract with RCR Tomlinson.
Whittens will install about 5,800 cubic metres of concrete under the contract, with work to be completed by January.
“We are very pleased to be part of such a significant project; this contract award validates the commitment of our people and further cements our position in Western Australia as the leading self-perform construction and services partner to the mining industry,” Whittens chief executive Louise Whitten said.
The award represent’s Whittens’ sixth major contract win for the year, with previous deals including work at BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance’s Caval Ridge coal project in Queensland, and on Inpex's Ichthys LNG project in the Northern Territory.
