West Oil set to be a big producer

DRILLING Coleraine-1 has the potential to transform West Oil NL from a junior explorer to a significant producer.

This follows the company’s announcement last week that it had spudded a well seeking oil in the offshore Timor Sea. Drilling of Coleraine-1, located in the Timor Sea, was at 124 metres after spudding earlier this week.

West Oil exploration director Bevan Warris said the drilling at Coleraine-1 vindicated West Oil’s focus on the Timor Sea.

“The drilling at Coleraine-1 is part of a significant exploration program in the Timor Sea and follows the company’s oil discovery at the Puffin-5 well in June,” Dr Warris said.

“The drilling of the well has the potential to transform West Oil from a junior explorer to a significant producer.”

The 30-inch casing has been run, set and cemented.
