West Coast flying high after heroic win

THE West Coast Eagles eased the anguish of last year’s grand final defeat by staging a thrilling one-point win at the MCG over the Sydney Swans to bring the AFL Premiership back to Western Australia for the third time in the club’s 20-year history. The Eagles led the scoring at each quarter before repelling a late Sydney surge and snatching an 85-84 victory. Around 25,000 fans greeted the team at Subiaco Oval on their return, and captain Chris Judd spoke to thousands of fans at a special city parade on Tuesday.
