Wesfarmers has released its annual social responsibility report providing a sweeping picture of some of the non-financial benchmarks the company operates with - including greenhouse emissions, energy use, water use, injury records and employment issues.
In an environment of IR change, Wesfarmers revealed that 36 per cent of its 29,600 workers are covered by collective agreements with 76 per cent of permanent employees owning shares in the company.
Community contributions from the group amounted to $4.9 million, including $550,000 to the arts. A $250,000 donation was made to victims of the Asian tsunami.
The company made donations totalling $160,000 to the Liberal Party, ALP and National Party.
The group emitted 2.6 million tonnes of CO2, used 19, 667, 816 gigajoules of energy and consumed 7,690 megalitres of water - with the CSBP fertiliser and chemicals subsidiary the majority user in each of those cases.
Lost time injury frequency rates dropped to 9 from 10.7 the previous year.
