Port Hedland town centre is to remain where it is, if the town’s residents have anything to do about it.
The retention of the existing town site was one of the key outcomes from the Enquiry by Design workshop held in the town at the beginning of November.
The workshop, with more than 140 residents and stakeholders participating, decided there were no significant health issues associated with dust although better dust management would make a contribution.
The workshop also decided that the divide between South Hedland and Port Hedland needed to be addressed and that Cooke Pointed and Pretty Pool would provide development opportunities.
A draft report will be prepared from the workshop and distributed to the broader community for a four-week comment period.
