Watch out for new Moss Brothers red

A WA red to watch for will soon be launched onto the market from Moss Brothers of Margaret River.

I tasted the 1999 Cabernet/Merlot before it was blended and was still in the cask and it showed stunning promise at that early stage. Then in the company of winemaker David Moss at Piccolo Mondo restaurant, I saw (saw or looked-at means tasted in wine-speak) the finished wine, unlabelled and capsule naked.

It’s a beautiful thing with superbly crafted, refined fruit and an elegance that would be welcome at Buckingham Palace.

As predicted, this wine scored high points at the Sheraton Awards and did remarkably well against big, brash, young reds. You can expect to pay $30-$35 a bottle.
