WA wins big at national food awards

Bacon from Perth, coffee from Broome, pork from Fremantle, and nougat from the Swan Valley have all claimed awards at the 2019 Sydney Royal Fine Food Show’s Taste of Excellence event.

The event is run by the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW and more than 1,800 entries from Australia were submitted across nine award categories.

The British Sausage Company, located in Bibra Lake, took out the top award for Bacon with its smoked streak bacon product.

The branded meats category award went to Craig Mostyn Group's CM Farms subsidiary for its Berkshire premium pork product.

Broome-based Kimberley Coffee Company won the espresso prize for its Ethipoan Guji Danse Mormora espresso blend.

Mondo Nougat’s assorted flavours nougat won the gold medal in the confectionery category.

Mondo Nougat is located in Swan Valley.

Sydney Royal Fine Food committee chair Lachlan Bowtell said consumers should be proud of the outstanding products made available right here in Australia.

“A Sydney Royal medal is a symbol of excellence and those awarded here today can be proud that their products are of the highest standard in Australia,” Mr Bowtell said.
