DEVELOPMENT approval for a 35,000 square metre regional shopping centre in the southern Perth suburb of Success was granted this week, 10 years ago. The Thomsons Lake shopping centre will be built next to the Kwinana Freeway by Perth-based developer Thomsons Lake Properties, as part of a major housing development comprising 2,000 new homes. The centre is to be developed in stages over 25 years with the $30 million, 16,000sq m first stage expected to be completed by the end of 1997. A second planned stage will add a further 14,000sq m. Features of the centre include a discount department store, two supermarkets, 60 specialty shops, office space, consulting rooms, restaurants, medical centre and cinema.
