WA this week 10 years ago - Acacia’s golden sunrise

ACACIA Resources Ltd approved the $48 million development of its Sunrise Dam gold mine in Western Australia this week 10 years ago. The Sunrise Dam will be mined by open pit methods and will treat about 1 million ounces of ore per year. Acacia said production would start in May 1997 and the company expects to produce about 70,000 ounces of ore, followed by more than 100,000 ounces a year for the first three years of operation.
