?. WA loses multi-billion dollar LNG plant

WESTERN Australia formally lost its bid to host a multi-billion dollar liquefied natural gas plant on Friday, with Japanese company Inpex Ltd and project partner Total E&P Australia announcing Darwin as the preferred site. Inpex had been weighing up either Blaydin Point in Darwin or the Maret Islands in WA as possible sites for the Ichthys LNG facility, which would have generated 2,000 jobs and about $50 billion in income for WA.
