WA has lowest unemployment

UNEMPLOYMENT in Western Australia fell to 2.7 per cent in March, the lowest in the nation, according to data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics. Premier Alan Carpenter said the fall, from 3.1 per cent unemployment in February, vindicated the state as being "the powerhouse economy of Australia". The national unemployment rate was 4.5 per cent, compared with 4.6 per cent in February.
