WA-based civil construction company Cable Layers WA Pty Ltd has today been acquired by national infrastructure service provider Agility Management Pty Ltd.
Cable Layers is one of Western Power Corporation's largest underground contractors working on high and low voltage reticulation, mains and transmission cables as well as pillar to pole installations.
Agility chief executive Mark Harper said the acquisition would provide the company with the credentials to meet energy market opportunities in Western Australia.
"By combining Cable Layers technical competence with Agility's capabilities and experience, we are confident Agility can offer quality support to help meet Western Power's infrastructure requirements," said Mr Harper.
Agility is a fully owned subsidiary of The Australian Gas Light Company.
Cable Layers business will be integrated into Agility which will become a part of the new infrastructure business formed post AGL 'sdemerger in April 2006.
In recent months, Agility has also acquired Oakland Constructions and Yambah, both civil contractors in South East Queensland.
