MORE than 1,000 of Western Australia’s leading business people will be saying thank you to the WA community in the first gala ball to be held in the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre on September 4.
Hosted by United Way and supported by patron Bill Wyllie, the event will boast celebrities and dignitaries from around Australia.
The event coincides with the 175th anniversary of the Founding of Western Australia.
United Way chairman John Carlson said the gala ball was to be a celebration of WA’s success and prosperity.
"From the America’s Cup to the sale of $25 billion of natural gas to China, WA has made its mark on the country and, indeed, the world," he said.
As the first official ball to be held at the PCEC, 120 WA businesses will be asked to take a table, at a cost of more than $5,000, with all profits going to charities that support the less fortunate in the State.
