WA bush receives State budget boost

RURAL WA will get a boost from some of the projects outlined in this State Budget. Nearly $40 million has been set aside for the development of the $200 million maritime support facility and the marine industry technology park at Jervoise Bay, representing almost half of the Department of Commerce and Trade $94.3 million budget.

Building construction for the CSIRO facility at Technology Park in Bentley will commence with planned expenditure of $20.6 million in 1999-2000.

Capital funding of $22.8 million has been allocated over the next five years to expand the Ord River Irrigation Scheme, with $1.4 million available in this budget.

Agriculture WA will spend $3.3 million on managing feral wildlife and $2.5 million to support interstate freight quarantine services.
