WA Labor expels former deputy leader

The state Labor Party has expelled former deputy leader Ian Taylor after he helped launch an election campaign for Kalgoorlie independent and former Labor resources minister John Bowler.

ABC radio reported that under ALP rules members are not allowed to campaign against endorsed candidates, with members automatically expelled.

Premier Alan Carpenter was reported as saying he was disappointed that Mr Taylor chose to support his long time friend rather than the endorsed Labor candidate for the region.
