Vimy appoints GR for study

Vimy Resources has appointed GR Engineering Services as study manager for a definitive feasibility study on its Mulga Rock uranium project near Kalgoorlie.

GR Engineering, which is also conducting feasibility study work at Gold Road Resources’ Gruyere gold project in WA, was awarded the study after tendering for the work in competition with four other engineering companies.

“We look forward to working with Vimy on the delivery of the Mulga Rock project DFS,” GR Engineering managing director Geoff Jones said.

“We consider Mulga Rock to be a high quality asset, managed by a team with a proven track record in the successful delivery of greenfields development projects.”

Vimy chief executive Mike Young said the company had received a number of high-calibre proposals for the project study lead.

“We are very pleased that a high quality Western Australian project is being progressed by a trusted and credible WA engineering and consulting firm” Mr Young said.

“GR Engineering has recently delivered a number of significant projects in WA and overseas across a diverse range of commodities.”

A pre-feasibility study on Mulga Rock, undertaken by Amec Foster Wheeler Australia and completed in November last year, estimated a mineral resource of 65.6 million tonnes at 520 parts per million triuranium octoxide, with an initial 17-year mine life.

The PFS estimated a cost of $362 million to bring the project into production.

 GR Engineering shares were 3.7 per cent higher to 98.5 cents each at 11am.

Vimy shares were unchanged at 27.5 cents each.
