Van Der Wielen joins ANZ Bank

Former Perth finance executive John Van Der Wielen has joined ANZ Bank's management team

Mr Van Der Wielen is leaving Lloyds Banking Group in London to become ANZ's managing director wealth (Australia).

"John's appointment, building on ANZ's acquisitions last year of the remaining 51 per cent stake of ING Australia, signals our intention to grow more aggressively in the Wealth segment," said ANZ CEO Phil Chronican.

"With more than 25 years experience in general and life insurance, wealth management and banking, gained both in Australia and overseas, John will be a tremendous asset to ANZ and to our specialist wealth business," he said.

Mr Van Der Wielen was a member of the executive board at HBOS Australia.

He also worked as CEO of St Andrews Australia and was state manager at Fortis.
