Perth-based Valmec has won a $6.6 million contract to provide its services to Saracen Mineral Holdings at the gold miner’s Thunderbox operations.

The engineering and construction contractor will supply, install and commission water pipeline and facilities at the gold mine, with work to begin immediately and be completed by April next year.

Valmec managing director Steve Dropulich said the contract award supported the company’s diversification strategy into new resource markets.

“We are delighted to have secured this important contract with Saracen which continues to build on our growing integrated and multi-discipline delivery model now within the burgeoning gold sector,” Mr Dropulich said.

The contract win puts Valmec’s order book at $61 million, with about 75 per cent of that work due to be carried out during the 2017 financial year.
