TWO teams of business students from the University of Western Australia have beaten off competition from the State’s other public universities to win the WA regional final of Australia’s premier tertiary management competition the Business Strategy Competition.
The undergraduate and postgraduate teams will now compete in the Australasian grand final.
The UWA teams beat teams from Edith Cowan University, Curtin University of Technology and Murdoch University.
The teams were set the task of preparing a solution to a business case study within a limited time and were assessed on teamwork, problem solving and presentation skills.
The UWA undergraduate team comprised Rosemary Win, Claudine Swiatek, Paul Jurik, Ritika Chopra, Benjamin Hawter and Pradeep Vatvani.
The postgraduate team – Master of Business Administration students from UWA’s Graduate School of Management – comprised Rebecca Gordon, Mark Ivory, Charlie Kempson, Steve Miller, Peter Ochman and Norm Roberts.
The Business Strategy Competition was founded in 1991 and is organised by students from the University of New South Wales’ Commerce and Economics Society and is sponsored by the Boston Consulting Group, which provides the competition’s strategy-based case studies.
