A team, based at the University of Western Australia, headed by Professor Fiona Stanley examining determinants of child health and development has received a $7.7 million grant over five years from the National Health and Medical Research Council.
The program brings together a multi-disciplinary team of researchers of international repute to investigate complex issues such as low birthweight, behavioural and mental health problems, autism, obesity and, in Indigenous children, infections.
Another UWA project, the National Population-based Genetic Epidemiology, Biospecimen and Bioinformatic Resource has received more than $1.9 million over five years to build its facilities.
