TWO Federation Fellowships have been awarded to researchers to work at the University of Western Australia.
Professor Steven Smith, whose primary research field is plant and molecular biology is currently at the University of Edinburgh and Professor Leigh Simmons, whose primary research field is evolutionary biology and is currently at UWA, were among the 25 successful Federation Fellows.
UWA vice-chancellor Professor Alan Robson said the fellowships fitted within the university’s research priority areas for the management of natural and agricultural ecosystems.
A Federation Fellow receives an annual contribution of more than $230,000 a year for five years, with an equal contribution to their work by the university.
