THE US ‘hands off’ model in regards to electronic commerce will boost e-commerce if it is adopted internationally, says US Federal Trade Commissioner Mozelle Thompson.
Mr Thompson, a speaker at the Perth-hosted World E-Com 1999 conference, said the US had taken the lead in the development of e-commerce structure.
The US government has removed all regulation from its
e-commerce markets.
In many cases this is believed to be the ideal model.
However, the Australian Government has been working on ways to censor Internet content, mostly driven by the former
balance of power-holding Senator Brian Harradine.
