Japanese fashion store UNIQLO has announced it will open a second Perth store at Westfield Carousel this winter.

The store will occupy 733 square metres and is expected to provide about 60 jobs.

UNIQLO opened its first Perth store in Murray Street Mall in 2018, which was met with huge crowds.

The brand is also opening its eighth store in Victoria, at Northland Shopping Centre in Melbourne’s northern suburbs.

Scentre group director leasing and retail solutions John Papagiannis said he was thrilled to welcome UNIQLO to Westfield Carousel because it continued to curate a bespoke mix of high-quality brands and experiences at the centre.

“This will make the fifth UNIQLO store within our Westfield portfolio, demonstrating the strength of our partnership,” Mr Papagiannis said.

“We look forward to working alongside the team at UNIQLO as they continue to grow their store network nationally.”

UNIQLO Australia chief operating officer Kensuke Suwa said since opening the first Australian store at Melbourne’s emporium five years ago, UNIQLO’s retail footprint has continued to expand, with momentum growing in 2019 as it opened the 20th store in Australia.

Westfield Carousel will mark our second store in Western Australia whilst Northland will be our eighth store in Victoria, reflecting the resounding response we’ve received from customers in both regions,” Mr Suwa said.

The brand is owned by Japanese retail holding company Fast Retailing and has more than 2,000 stores in 21 countries.
