The state's politicians will not receive a pay rise this year after the Salaries and Allowances Tribunal ruled the base salary will remain at $128,980 a year.
Premier Colin Barnett today welcomed the tribunal's determination, saying MPs needed to contribute, even in a tiny way, to a solution during the downturn.
"Earlier this year the State Government made a submission to the Salaries and Allowances Tribunal asking it not to increase politicians pay this year," Mr Barnett said.
"I am pleased that the tribunal shared the same view and there will be no pay rise."
Today's decision follows the tribunal's earlier ruling to leave salary rates for senior public servants, commissioners and chief executives in local government on hold for this year.
"The decision on MPs' salaries reflects the Tribunal's concern about the economy," it said in a statement.
Also included in today's determination was that the base electorate allowance has been increased by $2,500 to $53,183 to take into account the rise in postal changes.
Additionally air charter, motor vehicle and accommodation allowances have been adjusted in line with costs following surveys by the tribunal.
