Training awards win for WA

A MANDURAH youth worker and a Western Australian Government agency have won two of the nation’s top vocational education and training honours at this year’s Australian Training Awards.

Samantha Johnson won the New Apprenticeships Trainee of the Year and the Department of Justice’s Auswest Specialist Education and Training Services won the Australian Training Initiative Award.

Ms Johnson used the Work for the Dole scheme to lead to a successful traineeship in business.

The Department of Justice’s program won its award for its program that aims to provide vocational education and training that focuses on increasing participation of offenders in further education and training.
