Tourism WA sends ad account over east

Tourism Western Australia have selected Sydney-based creative agency Host to take control of its advertising account, beating out the only local agency that remained on the short list, 303.

Shame on you Tourism WA this decision is an absolute disgrace. If WA can't support WA then where does this leave WA business and commerce. I don't believe that an advertising agency that doesn't live here can embody and represent the brand values of Western Australian tourism. If Ms Buckland and the 'experienced panel of marketing and government personnel' can't find an advertising agency solution here in WA then frankly you are not looking hard enough. There is some incredible talent here in WA (at 303 and many other great WA agencies) and Tourism WA have a responsibility to promote, nurture and reward this talent. To Ms Buckland and members of the 'experienced panel of marketing and government personnel': When you go searching for your next senior role in marketing in WA and can't find it - bad luck - by sending this business and $ spend 'over East' you will have significantly contributed to the problem of a shrinking employment market for marketing and advertising in WA. I'm sure HOST are a great agency - but reading the Business News editorial - this race was clearly won before it started and peoples time and resources (in the other agencies) have been abused and wasted by a government agency.
