TORRANCE Constructions founder and retired builder, Rob Torrance, has won the prestigious Robert Law award from the Master Builders Association of Western Australia for his contribution to WA’s building industry. Mr Torrance is widely recognised as the pioneer of many steel sheet piling techniques, which have made the industry more efficient. MBA president Steven Peck said Mr Torrance had been generous with his time in providing advice to many of the state’s leading engineers about what construction methods would be best to use on unusually complex projects. Previous winners of the award, named after the association’s first president in 1898, include Homeswest, Graham Kierath, Len Buckeridge, John Roberts and Plunkett Homes.
