CHURCHES of Christ Homes & Community Services Inc, Curtin University of Technology, St John of God Health Care Inc and the University of Western Australia are among the 115 organisations rewarded nationally with a 2005 Employer of Choice for Women citation.
Besides the four in WA, 51 New South Wales organisations, 28 Victorian organisations, 15 Queensland organisations, six Tasmanian organisations, seven South Australian organisations, two Australian Capital Territory organisations and two Northern Territory organisations also received citations from the Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency.
To be eligible for a citation, organisations were required to actively recognise and address the needs of their female workers to enable them to reach their full potential.
EOWA director Anna McPhee said organisations on the list were not only supporting their female staff but providing a positive and flexible environment for all staff that led to improvements in the bottom line.
“These organisations challenge the status quo and try new work practices,” she said.
"They understand these people have different needs at different times in their careers and that it’s necessary to be flexible around these changes."
