BEST Employers in Western Australia is an important project for WA Business News, one we intend to develop into something of a signature award like our successful 40under40 program, soon to launch for its third year.
With the help of Market Equity we have put together a good platform from which to build this concept next year and I thank the companies that got involved.
It’s not easy to convince your workforce to talk about their jobs through an anonymous online survey, and even the participants that did not fare that well must have some level of commitment from their staff just to get them to reply to our survey.
All of the participating companies have received a report outlining their results.
To pick finalists, for instance, we chose to select only those who averaged above four out of five in two key sectors – overall employee job satisfaction and how employees felt the firm performed as an employer. These results must have come from a credible number of respondents.
It is a pleasure to see a veterinary clinic take top honours. As one of its partners outlines, the practice adopts so many good examples of what makes a great place to work.
I noted with interest the release of a study from the University of WA this week that found vets were hounded by stress and injury.
The study found one third of vets suffered “distress”, a combination of anxiety and depression.
Try telling that to the staff working at our Best Employer in WA, Ranford Veterinary Hospital.
Well done to them and the other finalists.
