Toll Group has been awarded a $90 million contract to design, construct and operate an offshore logistics base in Darwin for INPEX's Ichthys liquefied natural gas project.
The base will remotely support major offshore facilities in the Browse basin off the northern coast of Western Australia.
Toll will provide ongoing logistical support for the project, including supplying materials for the project's floating production, storage and offloading vessel and central processing facility.
The contract adds to Toll's existing work at the Ichthys project.
A joint venture between Toll and Perth-based Mermaid Marine Australia was awarded a $20 million contract in 2012 to develop a drilling support facility for the project in Broome.
"The variety of work we're doing for the Inpex offshore logistics base is an excellent example of Toll's capabilities in servicing the oil and gas sector," Toll global resources chief executive David Jackson said.
Construction of the offshore logistics base is expected to be completed in early 2015, with the facility expected to be fully operational later that year.
Inpex’s Ichthys project will have annual output of 8.4 million tonnes per annum and cost $US34 billion during construction.
Last week, Toll announced it had secured a contract with oil and gas giant Shell to provide a range of transportation services across Australia.
The contract is expected to generate revenue of about $250 million over five years.
