Timely funding

STORYTELLER Media Group’s flagship production Before It’s Too Late has secured funding of about $5,000,000 from the ScreenWest Screen Industry Partnership Fund.

According to Storyteller executive producer Mike Searle, the funding is essential to getting local documentaries up and running.

“We’ve had ad-hoc funding over the years that has helped develop episodes but this is a major step forward,” Mr Searle said.

The third series of Before It’s Too Late, focusing on the plight of endangered species, is currently being produced.

“Carolyn Bertram is in Hawaii at the moment filming an episode called Hawaii: A Lost Paradise. Hawaii has the worst record in the world for numbers of endangered species.”

Mr Searle said his company was currently in negotiations to sell the series to television stations, and estimated it would be screened in 60 countries.
