Tim Roberts joins MinRes board

The youngest son of the late John Roberts, who founded construction company Multiplex, has joined the board of Mineral Resources, filling the seat left vacant when long-serving director Joe Ricciardo retired in April.

Tim Roberts will become a non-executive director of MinRes with effect from mid-November.

Mr Roberts previously served as an executive director of Multiplex Group from 2003 to 2007, when his family sold its remaining stake in the business to Brookfield Asset Management.

He has since established a private investment group through his family office, and is also a board member of Crown Resorts Perth, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of ASX-listed Crown Resorts and owns the Crown Casino and hotels in Perth.

Mr Roberts is also a board member of the Perth Symphony Orchestra, and a member of the board of trustees of the Telethon Institute.

His appointment comes after Mr Ricciardo retired from his non-executive director role at MinRes and his position as non-executive chairman of GR Engineering (a company he founded) in April.

“The board welcomes Tim’s appointment recognising the extensive skills and experience he brings to the role,” MinRes said in a statement.

Shares in MinRes were 0.8 per cent lower to $11.46 each at the close of trade.
