MURRAY Jorgensen, Norman Halse and George Kailis have been named as the members of the Integrated Fisheries Allocation Advisory Committee.
The committee will help the Government chart a new direction for sustainable management of WA’s fisheries.
Mr Jorgensen, who will chair the committee, is an experienced businessman and also chair of the Forest Products Commission.
Mr Halse is a current board member of peak recreational fishing organisation Recfishwest and a former director-general of the Department of Agriculture.
Professor Kailis is professor of management at the University of Notre Dame in Fremantle and also a director of the MG Kailis Group.
The committee’s first allocation tasks will be confined to three fisheries – western rock lobster, abalone and the species of dhufish, baldchin groper and snapper.
