Three workers have been killed in two separate incidents across Perth today, including two men crushed by a concrete slab at a construction worksite in East Perth.

Just after 11:30am this morning police, firefighters and ambulance crews responded to calls that two workers had been seriously injured when a concrete slab fell off a delivery truck while it was being unloaded at an apartment construction site on Bennett Street in East Perth, which is being built by Jaxon for Foundation Housing.

It was later revealed that the two workers were killed immediately when the slab fell on them.

‘‘Our heartfelt thoughts and condolences go out to their families, loved ones and colleagues," Jaxon said in a statement.

"Site works have been halted until further notice and the site is now in the hands of relevant authorities."

WorkSafe is investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, a third man has fallen to his death while working at Alcoa of Australia’s refinery in Kwinana.

The Department of Mines and Petroleum said the scaffolder fell 10 metres to his death at about 12:30pm, however there are conflicting reports by St John Ambulance WA that stated that the man fell between 30 and 40 metres.

Alcoa said in a statement that it was deeply saddened by the incident.

It also said no other employees or contractors were injured in the accident.
