The University of WA Business School is holding a conference with the above theme, June 9 in the Case Study Room at the University Club in Crawley. This conference will host a wide range of speakers who will discuss the current economic commodity boom that is being driven by a surging Chinese economy and supply constraints, and particularly its effect on the WA mining industry. Speakers include: • Ken Clements – Professor of Economics at UWA; • John Roberts – senior consultant for economic consultancy firm ACIL Tasman; • M. Paul Sukagawa – president and management director at Mitsui Iron Ore Development Pty Ltd; • Qiang Ye – senior economist with the Department of Industry and Resources WA; • Paul Crompton – economic consultant to BHP Billiton; • James Fogarty and Renee Fry – fellows at the Centre for Applied Macroeconomic Analysis at the Australian National University in Canberra; and • Tracey Horton – dean of UWA Business School; This conference is being financially supported by UWA Business School.
