The Case for Nuclear Energy

World Nuclear Association director of public communications Ian Hore-Lacy is making a presentation on The Case for Nuclear Energy, for the Australian Institute of Energy on June 28 at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. The presentation will outline the case for using nuclear energy to help Western Australia meet its electricity demands without carbon dioxide emissions, including explaining the advantages of nuclear energy and the challenges involved in expanding it fast enough to make a difference to climate change concerns. He will explain why nuclear energy is increasingly chosen for large base load power generation on the basis of its competitive price, reliability, low greenhouse gas emissions and safety record. Mr Hore-Lacy has an MSc and has been involved with nuclear energy issues since 1978. As well as his position with the World Nuclear Association in London, he is also general manager of the Uranium Information Centre in Melbourne. Registration for the luncheon costs $49 for AIE members and $69 for non-members. To register, contact AIE on 9332 2525 or
