Technip awarded $262m Ichthys contract

France-based oil and gas engineering company Technip has won a €210 million ($262 million) works deal at Inpex’s Ichthys LNG project off the Western Australian coast.

Technip announced today it will prepare and execute offshore commissioning for the floating, production, storage and offloading unit and central processing facility for the Ichthys project, which will transport gas drilled from the Browse Basin off WA’s north west to a processing facility in Darwin.

The contract will start immediately, and is expected to be complete following delivery of first Ichthys gas in the fourth quarter of 2016.

“We have a team of leading FPSO and semi-submersible experts who are among the world’s most experienced commissioning engineers, as well as many supporting resources with practice on similar projects in Perth,” Technip executive vice president Phillippe Barril said.

“Their involvement will ensure the success of this cornerstone project as we grow our hook-up and commissioning offering for the Australian market.”
