MiPlan has been named Techboard’s highest trending startup in January, after the WA-based mine production management solutions company announced its acquisition by US-based Hexagon Mining for an undisclosed amount, as reported by Business News.
MiPlan has been named Techboard’s highest trending startup in January, after the WA-based mine production management solutions company announced its acquisition by US-based Hexagon Mining for an undisclosed amount, as reported by Business News.
In addition, the startup received two nominations from Techboard's panel of experts, and saw a large improvement in its website ranking.
Deputy was last month’s second highest trending startup nationally, and New South Wales’ top ranked, having raised $33 million in funding from US venture capital firm OpenView.
The startup, founded in Sydney in 2008, provides workforce scheduling software used by clients including McDonalds, Amazon and NASA. The funds raised have been ear-marked for international expansion.
Nuheara was ranked third. The ASX-listed company presented its intelligent IQbuds at CES in Las Vegas, and announced it had received US certification for its flagship product.
The company also saw strong social media engagement over the period, strong share price growth, and received a nomination from our panel of experts.
Asset management SaaS provider AssetOwl, ranked fourth, completed its $3.5 million reverse takeover of Regalpoint in early January.
The acquiring company has renamed and is now listed on the ASX under the AO1 ticker code. The company is led by Melbourne-based CEO Giuseppe Di Franco.
Spookfish camera system passes independent test
Spookfish’s photogrammetry capabilities have been independently validated by an international researcher in the field.
Dr Clive Fraser was engaged to perform an independent assessment and validation of the metric capabilities of the Spookfish system.
The level of accuracy achieved means Spookfish imagery can be reliably used for precision mapping tasks such as detailed asset capture and analysis.
Dr Fraser is a Program Science Director in the CRCSI and a Professorial Fellow at the University of Melbourne.
According to Dr Fraser, “this assessment of the Spookfish SP3 aerial camera system and its associated photogrammetric data processing pipeline has demonstrated that design specifications for metric accuracy are being met, and indeed surpassed.”
ADAPT by Design becomes B Corps
Perth-based technology company ADAPT by Design has officially become a Certified B Corporation.
B Corps are certified by the non-profit B Lab to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. Unlike traditional corporations, they are legally required to consider the impact of their decisions on their employees, suppliers, community, consumers, and environment.

BankVault in Cybersecurity top 500
BankVault has been included in Cybersecurity 500, a global list comprising of the top 500 innovative companies in the cybersecurity solution and services space.
The anti-hacking internet security startup is one of only two Australian companies include in the list.
BankVault is headquartered in Perth and has offices in Sydney and San Francisco.
Jugglr represents Australia in Texas
Jugglr has been selected as one of eight Australian startups by Austrade to participate in the G’Day USA program at South by Southwest Interactive (SXSW Interactive).
The app allows users to access a network of trusted mums to help with tasks in their local area.
Austrade will host a series of tailored activities at the program in March 2017 to profile Australia as a source of technology and innovative solutions.
SXSW Interactive is a coveted global platform for startups and scaleups in Austin (Texas).
