Teachers and TAFE recognised

MORE than 30 State school teachers and TAFEWA lecturers have won the last round for 2004 to become eligible for the finals of the inaugural $25,000 Premier’s Teacher of the Year Award.

The finalists each receive $1,000 for their round win and join the 62 other teachers and TAFEWA lecturers from earlier rounds in the race for the top teacher award.

Challenger TAFE lecturers can already hold their heads up with the institution scooping the pool in this year’s Premier’s Awards for Excellence in Public Sector Management.

The college won one category and was awarded two high commendations.

The Fremantle e-Tech Centre won the People and Communities: Education and Skills Development category.

The TAFE’s Aquaculture Development Unit and its WA Centre for Leadership and Community Development’s Governance Program won high commendations.
