Local telco Swift Networks has secured a five-year services contract in the oil and gas industry.

Under the contract, Swift will provide a range of entertainment and communication services for between 2,500 and 4,600 rooms.

The work was awarded through Swift’s reseller agreement with global IT company DXC Technology.

Swift said it would receive an initial payment of about $1.5 million, along with monthly service and support fees over the next five years.

The company said the contract will contribute to material growth in its revenue, which totalled $17 million last financial year.

Chief executive Xavier Kris said the partnership with DXC was adding value.

“Our reseller relationships, which also include Telstra, AST and Tripleplay, are producing pleasing results demonstrating that our strategy is being delivered as planned and we look forward to continued growth in conjunction with our partners,” he said.

Shares in Swift finished 7.9 per cent higher at 41 cents each today.
