Australia’s Facing the Future report is one of four regional reports to come out of the worldwide Mining Minerals and Sustainable Development project established in the lead-up to the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg later this year.
Minerals Council of Australia acting executive director Kevin Tuckwell said the report showed that while the minerals and mining industries were responsive to the communities they operated in, there remained some major environmental, social and economic challenges to both acknowledge and address.
